Her safety plan
Captains have been laminating these by hand for decades. Upload her deck layout, mark what is aboard and where, draw the route off her, and print it.
One sheet per deck, with a legend and the date it was printed on it.
What goes on it
Tap the symbol, then tap the spot on the drawing. Drag it afterwards if it is not quite right. Anything the list has never heard of gets a label you type.
Extinguishers, fire ports, blankets, the engine room bottle, and the detectors. Red circles.
Hatches, lifejackets, the ring, the raft, the EPIRB, flares, first aid, the boarding ladder, the muster point. Green squares.
Fuel, gas, the battery isolator, the shore power inlet, the seacocks, the bilge pump. Yellow diamonds.
The VHF and a torch, plus anything this list has never heard of, under a name you give it.
Tap your way from where somebody is standing to where they get off her. Arrows sit along the whole line, not only at the end.
The sheet
It is a bulkhead notice, so it is built like one rather than like a screen.
One deck to a page
Her name and the deck across the top, big. A plan that does not say which deck it is gets read as the wrong one.
Shape first, colour second
Fire gear is a circle, evacuation a square, a shutoff a diamond. Photocopied, or read by somebody who cannot separate red from green, they are still three different things.
A legend of what is actually on it
Only the symbols used on that page. A key explaining twenty two symbols on a sheet that shows four is a key nobody reads.
The date it was printed
A safety plan goes out of date the moment an extinguisher moves, and a sheet with no date on it cannot be known to be stale.
No advice on it
It says where things are. It does not tell anybody what to do in a fire, because that is not ours to say.
Who it is for
A guest, a new deckhand, a yard hand aboard for an afternoon. The plan is for whoever is on her when it matters, which is rarely the person who drew it.
A main deck, a lower deck, a flybridge. A plan that covers one of three is worse than none, because it reads as complete.
Marked on a phone, corrected on a laptop, printed on letter paper. The positions are held as a fraction of the drawing, so all three agree.
The layout stays in her paperwork whether or not a plan is drawn on it, and you can ask for every file back at any time.

Four promises
A YachtGrade safety plan records where equipment was when somebody marked it. It is not a statutory safety plan, is not approved by any class society or flag authority, and does not replace one where the vessel is required to carry it.
