YachtGrade is what happens when those two jobs meet.
It started on boats, working on them through college.
Then came four years in IT, building systems for businesses that could not stop to wait for them: manufacturers whose lines depend on the machines and networks behind them, security camera installations that have to record every hour of every day, and doctors' offices that need their computers working before the first patient walks in. The lesson from those years was simple. A good system is one nobody has to think about. It fits the way people already work, it records what happened without being asked, and it is there when someone needs to prove it.
Then five years back on the water in South Florida: managing boats, detailing them, running them as a USCG 100-ton captain, and selling them. About thirty boats in all, from 32-foot day boats to a 58-foot yacht, alongside the mechanics, electricians and specialists who keep every system aboard running.
A factory knows the hours on every machine. A camera system knows who came and went, and when. A doctor's office can pull up a full history in seconds.
The boats had none of it. Looking after a boat still runs on phone photos, group texts and memory. A tech checks the bilge, and the proof is a picture somewhere in a camera roll. An owner is told everything is fine, and is asked to take it on trust. When she is sold, her history is whatever somebody can remember.
